LTGDC’s vision for Hackney Wick is creating a new heart for the community offering a unique place to work and live with improved transport access, public realm and open space. With a blend of new workspaces, studios, galleries, housing, cafes and shops, tomorrow’s Hackney Wick will be a high energy, diverse and well connected district.
The Hackney Wick Hub will be a new centre for Hackney Wick providing an employment led mixed use scheme of residential and commercial development opportunities. It will build on the existing creative industries by attracting new and emerging business to locate to the area and to strengthen the image of the area as a creative hotspot in east London and complement the initiatives of the Olympic Media Centre. An Innovation / Incubator Centre is proposed to act as an early catalyst for change in Hackney Wick.
Proposal for an improved station, which is now benefiting form the opening of the East London Overground, and enhanced public realm is a key component to improve the area and will address the severance that exists either side of the current station. The creation of public transport, pedestrian and cycle bridge linkages to the Olympic Park in legacy mode will impact hugely on residents and visitors providing direct access to the Park.
